About Scholarship
The Eudora Welty Research Fellowship aims to support scholarly research using the Eudora Welty Collection and related materials at MDAH. The fellowship seeks to nurture graduate students at the beginning of their academic careers, in order to increase their interest in, and promote continued appreciation of, Eudora Welty's life and works. One research fellowship with a stipend of $5,000 will be offered to a student enrolled in an accredited college or university. The recipient is expected to be in residence for a minimum of two weeks during the summer to conduct research at the William F. Winter Archives and History Building in Jackson, Mississippi. At the conclusion of their stay, the fellow will be asked to give a presentation and submit a summary report on the fellow's research findings. A Proposal describing the proposed research topic, methodology, use of MDAH holdings, and research product(s) is required. It must also indicate the applicant's anticipated schedule and estimated expenses for research. A letter of recommendation from the applicant's academic advisor must also be submitted. Supporting materials may be submitted but are not required. Applications may be submitted through email or mail.
